Surprise!

It's been way too long since we last wrote.  Blogging is something that I love to do and I could kick myself (and Kelly) that we didn't keep up with it more.   You would think that between the two of us we would be able to maintain it just fine but that is far from the truth as the past year has revealed.

A lot of exciting things have happened in the past months that I should have shared with you earlier.  But hey, it's better late than never.  On September 19th my boyfriend of over 3 years proposed and I couldn't be more thrilled. At the same time, my boyfriend was also closing on a house, and we recently moved in together.  As you could imagine, it's been lots of projects around the house while also thinking about the big day.

I will share details about our wedding as they are planned and Kelly and I will also do our best to share more about our lives and the things we love.

In the meantime, I figured I'd share the story behind the first photo. Javi, my now fiancee, was anticipating to close on a house soon and he wanted to make sure the day was extra special for us. He purchased the ring two months prior with the help of Kelly, miles away in New York City. Javi, his family, and my family were anxiously awaiting the closing of the house but it kept getting pushed back. Finally, on September 19th, 2012, Javi signed the final papers and the house was his.

I was excited to see the new house and met up with Javi after work to go see it. As Javi opened the door, I was welcomed to a wonderful surprise of champagne, flowers, and chocolate covered strawberries. Javi had also brought the patio set we refinished together and a painting he had gotten me for Christmas. He played the setup off as a celebration of the new house.

After going around and seeing the house we ended up back in front of the painting in which Javi said "what do you think about that painting in the living room?" I then lifted the painting and said "let's try it." When I lifted the painting I saw the words "Will You Marry Me" written on the wall. Javi got down on one knee and popped the question to which I of course said "Yes!"

We had planned to go to a nice dinner that evening and I was pleasantly surprised when I was welcomed by my family and Javi's family at the restaurant.  It really couldn't have been more perfect!

A photo of us from my friend's wedding this past weekend.

The ring.  I couldn't have done a better job myself!

A gift basked from my three sister to help me start planning.
